Japanese game developer Arika contracted to work on Tekken 8’s rollback netcode
Arika to help with Tekken’s online user experience and more.

Bandai Namco has announced that they have outsourced the development of their Tekken series to Japanese video game developer Arika Co., Ltd (Arika). According to the release, full development of Tekken 7 will be placed in the hands of Arika, with partial development work on Tekken 8.

Arika is known for a number of games, including Street Fighter EX, Tetris: The Grand Master, and most recently Fighting EX Layer Another Dash.
Details of the work consignment point out that Bamco will still be “in charge of game balance items,” while Arika is “in charge of updating software such as improving software, fixing bugs, and improving operability of online battles.” They go on further to say “We will outsource the production work to improve the user experience to Arika, who has know-how on online battle algorithms and game response.”
According to Arika’s Wikipedia, they are specifically working on Tekken 8’s rollback netcode for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Microsoft Windows. This is confirmed in a press release by Arika that says, “We will provide advice on our developed online battle algorithms and game response, as well as undertake production work to improve the user experience.”
