Tekken 7 makes the cut for EVO 2018 and Sunday Finals at Mandalay Bay arena
Could we see the Tekken 7 numbers double this year? Triple?
Evolution Championship series (EVO), the largest fighting tournament in the world, returns to Las Vegas, Nevada on August 3-5, 2018, and just moments ago it was announced through a world reveal on the Redbull Esports Twitch which games that will be a part of its lineup. Joey “Mr. Wiz” Cuellar (EVO CEO) and Mark “Markman” Julio (EVO Business Development) hosted the stream, announcing that Tekken 7, Super Smash Bros. WiiU, Street Fighter V Arcade Edition, BlazeBlue Cross Tag Battle, Guilty Gear Xrd Rev2, Injustice 2, Super Smash Bros. Melee and DragonBall FigherZ will be the eight games featured this year.

Tekken 7, Guilty Gear Xrd Rev2, Super Smash Bros. Melee, DragonBall FighterZ and Street Fighter V AE, will also be the five games featured in the Sunday Finals at Mandalay Bay arena. The order is yet to be determined. Though, with Tekken 7’s ever-growing popularity, especially from a spectator standpoint, it wouldn’t be hard to imagine the game being near the end of the schedule (which is a good thing).
EVO 2017 featured the largest Tekken tournament ever, with 1,279 competitors. The first-ever EVO in Japan just took place last month, and it was over 1,200 as well. Could we see double that number at EVO Vegas in August? The game will have been out over a year by that time, so it is highly possible.
