What do a salmon and a praying mantis have in common? They were both dropped from the Tekken 3 roster. According to Harada-san the team had the idea to include a giant praying mantis called ‘Insect,’ however, as there were new characters being introduced already, they didn’t have enough resources to accommodate. As for the salmon, named Sake, Harada-san said that the character would just flop around making a flapping noise, even if you press kick or punch. Even though this would’ve been a comical element to the game, customer satisfaction was at the forefront of Harada-san and the team’s mind, so they dropped the idea as people would probably not be happy paying for a pretty useless character (in the arcades).
