Old Forums
In case you haven’t noticed, one such “tweak” was having to let go of our initial forum and profile system. The reason we had to make this very difficult decision was because they greatly impacted the speed and performance of the whole website. It made page loads very long, and that’s not acceptable. Also, the forums loaded very slow, and that’s not ideal for building a community where dialogue should be fluid. So we had to ditch it.
We were without the forums for a day, but many were surprised at how quickly we were able to get the new forums up. Yes, we worked tirelessly on making that happen. We consider the forums the life-blood of the community, where die-hard Tekken gamer’s share their experiences, ideas, tips, tricks, resources and much more. The forums are invaluable.
Forums Upgrade
Our new forums are lightning fast! We are using phpBB, a very popular forum software, and we’ve set them up on their own database where it can breath. It isn’t connected to our main site in any way. Now both main our site and forums are both performing at a high level.
So what does this all mean going forward? Well, for one, you no longer need an account with the main site. The only time you will need to login for anything is to comment on an article or a piece of content. We use Disqus comments system for this, and have since we first launched. So nothing has really changed in that regard.
As for the new forums, you will need to register for a new account. Your previous login will not work with this new platform. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience, and hope that you understand that it was with your best interest in mind that we made this decision. This won’t happen again.
Giveaway
Already in less than a week over 100 people have joined the forums, and daily the numbers increase. As our way of saying thank you for joining the forums we’ve started a new giveaway. Check out the details here. It’s our best yet.
Movelists
One last order of business. Our movelists will be upgraded in the next week or two from Tekken 7 Vanilla to Tekken 7: Fated Retribution. It will include all current characters. So be expecting that very soon.
